Dummy wafer（亦被稱為Test Wafer）,不同於通常使用的晶圓片產品，主要指用於實驗及檢查等用途的晶圓片。因此，Dummy wafer（Test wafer）中再生晶片被普遍使用。
為了提升製造設備初期製造過程中的穩定性，Dummy wafer也被廣泛投入使用。同時在評測傳輸以及加工形狀中亦會使用。由於在實驗及測試中使用較多，因此尺寸以及厚度在很多情況下很重要 在各個工程中，使用Dummy wafer（Test wafer）去測試鍍膜厚度，耐壓，光屈率，有無Pinball，如果是石板印刷術，則會在測試圖案以及有無缺陷時使用到Dummy wafer（Test wafer). 晶圓制程中控片擋片起監控測試和維持穩定作用，為必需部件。
矽片按照在晶圓廠的應用場景不同，可以分為兩大類：
（1）正片（Prime Wafer），被直接用於半導 體加工，包括拋光片、外延片等；
（2）用於監控測試的矽片，包括控片（monitor wafers）、 擋片（dummy wafers）/ 測試晶片（Test Wafer）。
製造晶圓的精細要求極高，矽片表面的平整度將直接關係到晶片的性能品質，所以晶圓廠需要時刻對製造設備的性能進行監測測試以及維持穩定，以保證最終的成品率。由於這些測試和維持穩定都是破壞性的，直接使用產品測試以及維持穩定的成本較高，於是廠商一般會使用較便宜的無圖形矽片，這些用於測試和維持穩定的無 圖形矽片就是控片和擋片。

Dummy wafer (also known as Test Wafer) is different from commonly used wafer products. It mainly refers to wafers used for experiments and inspections. Therefore, recycled wafers are commonly used in Dummy wafer (Test wafer).
In order to improve the stability of the initial manufacturing process of manufacturing equipment, Dummy wafer is also widely used. It is also used in evaluating transmission and processing shapes.
Due to its frequent use in experiments and tests, size and thickness are important in many cases. In various projects, Dummy wafer (Test wafer) is used to test the coating thickness, pressure resistance, optical refractive index, and presence or absence of pinball. If it is lithography, Dummy wafer (Test wafer) will be used to test the pattern and whether there are defects. In the wafer manufacturing process, the “monitoring wafer” & “blocking wafer” play a role in monitoring, testing and maintaining stability, and is a necessary component.
Silicon wafers can be divided into two categories according to their application scenarios in wafer fabs:
(1) Prime wafers, which are directly used in semiconductor processing, including polished wafers, epitaxial growth wafer (EPI), etc.;
(2) Monitoring& testing wafers used for monitoring and testing Silicon wafers, including monitor wafers, dummy wafers/test wafers.
Manufacturing wafers requires extremely high precision. The flatness of the silicon wafer surface will directly affect the performance and quality of the wafer. Therefore, the wafer factory needs to monitor and test the performance of the manufacturing equipment at all times and maintain stability to ensure the final yield. Since these tests and maintenance of stability are destructive, the cost of direct product testing and maintenance of stability is high, so manufacturers generally use cheaper non-patterned silicon wafers.
